Taste of the Arts (aka TOTA) is a FREE community arts event for children grades 1-8.
Bring the kids to Taste of the Arts on Saturday February 3rd, 2024, at The Gibson Centre.
This is a FREE event, where children in the community will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of art forms, and get a taste of what Gibson School of the Arts and other arts programs in our community have to offer!
• Visual Arts
• And more!
This year we welcome Rising Star Music Academy, The Dance Workshop and our own talented arts instructors who are excited to share their love of the arts with your children!
Participants will be divided into group and they will rotate through these different arts activities set up throughout our beautiful heritage building!
Children in grades 1-4 will be starting the day at The Gibson Centre at 10:00 am. Activities will begin right at 10am, so please drop off between 9:15 am and 9:30 am so that you have time to sign your children in at the registration desk. Pick up will be on the basement level of The Gibson Centre at 12:20 PM.
Children in grades 5-8 will be starting at The Gibson Centre at 1:30 PM. Activities will begin right at 1:30 PM sharp, so please drop off between 1:00pm and 1:15pm so that you have time to sign your children in at the registration desk. Pick up will be at The Gibson Centre lobby at 3:40 PM to allow for children to finish at their last activity!
Registered participants will be put into groups, so if you are signing up with a friend and would like to be in the same group as them, be sure to e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to let her know!
Participants will be guided from activity to activity by our staff and volunteer team. There will be space for parents to wait at The Gibson Centre ONLY by our check in on the lower level. Parents will be asked to wait in our comfortable waiting area if they choose to stay. You are encouraged to drop your children off and pick them up when they are done if you are comfortable doing so, but you must sign them in AND pick them up with a signature.
We have a wonderful group of volunteers who will safely walk participants from one location to the other within the building in their assigned groups. If you would like to be a parent volunteer - please contact email@example.com as we are always happy to have extra help!
We are so looking forward to having our participants enjoy their time with us. Please remember that this event is for children grades 1-8 and children younger than 6 years will be too young and unable to enjoy the activities prepared. Children must be comfortable participating without the presence of their parents as we simply do not have room for that many people to be moving throughout the building at the same time.
