This is a fun and interactive 5-week culinary experience where young chefs build confidence in the kitchen while learning essential cooking skills. Throughout the program, participants explore kitchen safety, measuring, mixing, knife skills, flavour building, cooking techniques, plating, teamwork and creativity through hands-on activities and exciting food challenges. The program ends with the exciting Future Chef Challenge, where students plan, prepare and present a signature dish in a final chef competition with judging and awards. This class is designed for young chefs who have previous cooking experience, either at home or in our programs, and are ready to work independently while staying focused and engaged in the kitchen.
Week 1: Kitchen Foundations: safety, measuring, mixing, teamwork.
Week 2: Knife Skills & Flavour Lab: seasoning, knife skills, balancing flavours, creativity.
Week 3: Cooking Techniques & Presentation: cooking methods, plating, food styling and kitchen organization.
Week 4: Challenge Prep Week - work together to plan for the Final Chef Competition.
Week 5: Final Chef Competition - work together to prepare & present a signature dish for judging & awards.
This course is for students in Grades 3-8.
